Public Education and fire prevention activities are a large part of the mission of any fire department. In 2008 Hastings Fire-Resuce participated in 81 events through which we contacted 35,579 people and devoted 457.01 staff hours.

We attended community events for public coalition relationships and/or education with activities including brochures, handouts, prizes, classroom presentations, smoke demonstrations and parades.

In addition to public appearances and education, Hastings Fire-Rescue is making an effort to help citzens avoid risk, live better and live more safely. Through the new program Red Gone Green, we will soon be able to offer citizens more resources to make their homes and workplaces safer.
